Yeah...and I have a plan formulating for use of our bonus ship. That, plus everything else we need to do, I think we'll have a good, full day.

Ok... So it's a bit quiet around here. Admittedly Bish hasn't approved anything yet, but I /do/ have a build of the Scorpion II at an approved CP level (actually, I can add ~3.4cp and still be under budget.) So, I'm going to start posting tidbits. To start:
Quote:
The Chassis
The Scorpion II chassis is inspired by the design of the Jameson Engineering 'Terrapin' Field Command Vehicle. Like the Terrapin, it includes a powerful sensor suite, as well as enough engine power to easily drop or lift more than half its tonnage to or from a planet's surface. With a talented pilot at the controls, this weight limit can be increased to greater than its own tonnage.

Given the array of situations we have encountered, I have included additional capabilities far in excess of the Terrapin design intent, most notable to these are design adaptations for all five environmental factors, EMP hardening for all systems, and docking and hull breaching systems making use of Ancient technologies.

At the heart of the Scorpion II, its chassis is the largest single portion of its cost and tonnage. Tipping the scales at 62.65 tons, it will cost 625CP alone to construct.

Specifications:
[*]Torso (Mega-Heavy, 26cu, 20 Kills, 10SP (Gamma) armor)
[*]Head (Super-Heavy, 10cu, 10 Kills, 10SP (Gamma) armor)
[*]Arms (2) (Super-Heavy, 13cu, 10 Kills, 10SP (Gamma) armor) {Left and Right}
[*]Engine Blocks (4) (Super-Heavy, 14cu, 8 Kills, 10SP (Gamma) armor) {Port Forward, Port Aft, Starboard Forward, Starboard Aft}
[*]Tail (Super-Heavy, 16cu, 7 Kills, 10SP (Gamma) armor)

Taking a further step into detail, I'll go ahead and present a simple yet critical component:
Quote:
The Engines
In order to be of full utility, the Scorpion redesign will need to be more mobile than its predecessor. To that end, the Scorpion II, much like the Terrapin, features four primary engines and thruster blocks. The design of these engines is such that any two can be disabled while still maintaining full 'flight' ability. The Scorpion II also includes a full Gravitics suite, however that will be discussed later.

Incorporating Ancient technology 'breakthroughs,' each block includes a supplemental reactor capable of ensuring peak performance from each engine when it is needed for maximum maneuverability.

Each engine block will cost a total of 168.6CP to assemble. Do note some of this cost is contained within the Chassis cost as well.

Specifications:
Engine Blocks (4) (Super-Heavy, 14cu, 8 Kills, 10SP (Gamma) armor)
[*]Supplemental Reactor (2cu)
[*]Dual Thruster-Nacelles (7.5MA, 11.4cu, Aquatic-adapted)

This is just the tip of the iceberg, Bish. There are also a few things I want to discuss regarding the design. May as well post here, things to consider for Sunday:

You gave me a 1500CP limit for the design, but a few things I was looking toward:
[*]Already included in the design is a Resulka cannon, which hasn't been included in the cost given it's 'stock' equipment we have available.
[*]A little less "stock" is the notion I've had to reduce the overall cost somewhat: Taking engine components from the Skimmers we have in storage on the Fancy. Time consuming, perhaps, but in this case if we could sacrifice several of those ships (need to work with you on the actual number that would be needed,) that would be beneficial.
[*]With Sam currently wholly MIA, the latter half of the project, the Scorpion II's shield, is out of the picture as well. With the cost of the engines whittled out, I'll likely be able to fully shift a shielding system into the cost.

Another point I've mentioned before is the chassis type. I think you approved a, for lack of better term, 'space tank' design, but wanted to anchor in the specifics of that, will have to catch you on Yahoo, though.

Couldnt NPC just act as an NPC and we can move ahead with the design? I know from time to time bish NPCs me as the pilot when I cant make games.

I dont see why an AWOL player should inhibit our progress...though we could turn to a live tech shielding solution? :P

I'll be late tomorrow because of work. Probably by a little more than an hour. I expect no one to tell me a damned thing about anything that happened between last session and then. I also expect that this won't be a problem because no one actually tells me what we're doing BEFORE we do it, let alone after.

Details on the Skimmers

A skimmer is a one or two man high speed miniature submarine designed for manoeuvrability and speed, usually used in Skimmer racing on most aquatic worlds, quite a number of designs have become popular. They also take the place of small transport, such as a motorbike would be on land. Several Military have specialised scout variants.

Telten Skathe

This small one man craft serves as close in support for the Aquatic infantry bringing some heavier weapons to bear, its speed also allows it to make short scouting runs. The Skathe is a direct development from the Shathe civilian skimmer.

Harridian E-2
Image

The RC Harridian is put together by a team known as Hallister LTD, the team assembles each Harridian by hand and to the highest quality. The Harridian is pretty much a custom racing machine, barely water ways legal. Since it is hand made, supply of these fine racing vehicles is fairly limited, but there is always a market, thanks to their supreme qualities on the Skimmer Circuits.

Telten -01 Shathe Skimmers
Image

This small two man skimmer is what could be called the standard of skimmers, mass manufactured and un modified it has average speed, average manoeuvrability etc, usually serves as the base of many racing mods, it is seen with great regularity on the racing circuits, both the mainstream commercial and the more popular border races, sometimes its military variant is seen in the illegal ‘Death Races’.

Length: 6.2 meters
Width: 2.5 meters
Height : 2.1 meters
Weight : 2.6 tons

Frobisher - Wrasse Mini-man
Image

One of the smallest racing skimmers, Frobisher decided to design their skimmer with bare necessity in mind, throwing out all the complicated heavy equipment and leave the pilot to fly by the seat of his pants. The combination of size and manoeuvrability has made a name for the Wrasse Minniman, unfortunately the small size means that no large engines can be fitted and it suffers in the speed department.

Length: 3.6 meters
Width: 3.2 meters
Height : 2.2 meters
Weight : 1.4 tons

Speed: 51 knots
Range: 100km
Max Depth: 1000 meters
Crew: 1
Armour: 5 mm T.P.M.C.
Manoeuvrability : Excellent ( - 0 MV)

Hull hits : 50

Ergo - 3 Trans
Image

Ergo Enterprises is noted for its innovative designs, and the Trans is no exception, looking more like a spacecraft than a submarine, it is designed to make use of new designs in the field of Hydrodynamics, coupling these with a hefty array of four race tuned MHD turbines. Unfortunately the racing community still looks on it as being to ‘clean’ for their image, and this vessel is not popular.

Length: 5.7 meters
Width: 3.8 meters
Height : 2.7 meters
Weight : 2.9 tons

Speed: 58 knots
Range: 300km
Max Depth: 1500 meters

Bakala MANTA RS4
Image

The Manta is a pretty popular design, having found its niche within the market, catering to the ‘female’ element of the races, being seen as a girly machine it is not popular with males, but thanks to its superior manoeuvrability, women like it just fine. Its one downside is its wingspan, which makes turning through narrow canyons on some of the more twisted race courses difficult.

Length: 5.7 meters
Width: 5.4 meters
Height : 2.1 meters
Weight : 2.4 tons

Speed: 54 knots
Range: 200km
Max Depth: 1500 meters

Yarcool - Sea Falcon
Image

Having made a success with the Raport and Shriken L-8 DPV’s, Yar Cool is trying to break into the market for larger racing vehicles with this medium end racing skimmer. Fairly new on the market, opinion is still uncertain towards the Sea Falcon, but it is pulling together some good racing pilot backing.

Length: 6.6 meters
Width: 3.4 meters
Height : 2.4 meters
Weight : 2.9 tons

Speed: 58 knots
Range: 200km
Max Depth: 1000 meters
Crew: 1
Armour: 5 mm T.P.M.C.

Hooper - Sharbo DL44
Image

‘Take a Huge engine and stick a cockpit on the front,’ this seems to have been the Hooper design philosophy when designing the Sharbo. With an engine that would be at home in a SubFighter, it certainly has speed, but unfortunately this comes at a price, its only good in a straight line, and can be outmanoeuvred by even un modified transport skimmers.

Length: 5.0 meters
Width: 4.1 meters
Height : 4.3 meters
Weight : 4.2 tons

Speed: 71 knots
Range: 100km
Max Depth: 2000 meters
Crew: 1
Armour: 7 mm T.P.M.C.
Manoeuvrability : Very Bad ( - 4 MV)

Hull hits : 90
Hull sp : 25

Kalico - Triton Sunfish
Image

A rather unusual shape, but one that works, the Sunfish has proved popular with most racers that can afford one, one marked note for this vessel is the apparent ease with which the hull can be modified to accept weapon mounts for the illegal death races.

Length: 4.3 meters
Width: 1.4 meters
Height : 4.3 meters
Weight : 2.9 tons

Speed: 59 knots
Range: 100km
Max Depth: 2000 meters
Crew: 1
Armour: 7 mm T.P.M.C.

Mickhail BROS - Vex Torbo
Image

A heavy weight racing Skimmer, the Torbo follows traditional lines for its design, coupling them with a rigid hardiness, it is an excellent craft to modify, which is good, since most Torbos will not perform well without some form of tinkering.

Length: 5.4 meters
Width: 3.1 meters
Height : 2.5 meters
Weight : 5.3 tons

Speed: 52 knots
Range: 400km
Max Depth: 2500 meters
