Anyone got any good time wasty Ideas while our GM goes around with the delusion that gainful employment is more important than running an rpg for a bunch of strangers online?

Well, I could probably take some random Teenagers from Outer Space on a nice Field Trip for a week or two, if you all want some light hearted fare.

Tafos? I'm not sure the depth and sophistication of that game can be fully grasped by our players. Its a really complicated system.

Teenagers From Outer Space is hardly a game you would run a "campaign" in. This is more like a silly romp to pass the time until Andy gets the game started again. With randomly generated and completely disposable characters. For instance, Rone might be Atalez, the ice-farting half-minotaur dude who has to plan everything out 3 weeks ahead and is loved by everyone.

I'd be just as happy spending the time doing some campfire roleplay for the Kingmaker campaign. We've spent plenty of nights in the wilds in relative safety overnight. We could rp the deepening of our relationships with each other and talks about what we want our futures to be like, etc... Not sure everyone would be game for that, nor how long we'd want to keep it up. Nothing says we need a dm to just roleplay some of those nights.

The DM sent an e-mail saying that work has him traveling and he won't be able to run, then he said that was going to be moved up a few weeks. Having a plan for a few games where the GM is not going to be ready is a thing we should think about.

I like the campfire roleplaying idea, for me the little details of the nation we will eventually build is something I'd like to talk about, as well as the adorable budding romance forming in our party.

OK to kick start some conversation lets talk Kingdom Roles:

Ruler
The ruler is the primary leader of the kingdom. Unlike the other leadership roles.

Councilor
The councilor ensures that the will of the citizenry is represented.

General
The General commands the kingdom’s armies and is a public hero.

Grand Diplomat

The Grand Diplomat oversees international relations.

High Priest

The high priest guides the kingdom’s religious needs and growth.

Magister
The Magister guides a kingdom’s higher learning and magic.

Marshal
The Marshal helps organize patrols and enforces justice in rural and wilderness regions.

Royal Assassin
The Royal Assassin can serve as a public executioner, a headsman, or a shadowy assassin.

Spymaster
The Spymaster observes the kingdom’s underworld and criminal elements and spies on other kingdoms.

Treasurer
The Treasurer organizes tax collection, and manages the treasury.

Warden

The Warden leads the kingdom’s defense and city guards.

Burnanator*
The Burnanator* burns the things that need the burning.

OK, I avoided listing their mechanical benefit because I would rather work through who does what in the kingdom by making the roles fit organically into a believable society rather than what is statistically the best city. I'm kind of interested to know what role you want in your kingdom.

Personally I want Ruler, but as a player I am not sure if work won't interfere with gaming in the future. So for me Councilor is a close second for me, I like the idea of being the bridge between common people and the powers that be and it really is in character for me to work closely with tradesmen and help guide their hand.

I've personally wanted Carden as our warden and/or marshal since before he was made as a character. The Inquisitor class is just made for dealing justice and finding evildoers is what they do. I recommended he take the brand orison specifically for this role, but he is of course free to do whatever.

Personally I think Segrid and Andraste will fill the leader and general roles, working increasingly close to one another, I'm hoping Andraste gets a really powerful role just to piss off the misogynists in her faith.

Jeremiah and Zelata are harder to place, I'll be honest beyond excellent tactical decisions and being grumpy I don't know what Jeremiah's strengths are. Zel currently is not what I would call government material currently, she's young and impulsive but there may be years between chapters in the story and she could easily mature in the years between stories.

*not an actual kingdom role.

Ruler
The ruler is the primary leader of the kingdom. Unlike the other leadership roles.

I think Cairne is ideal for this. He has royal blood. He has ties to Brevoy. He wants the job.

Councilor
The councilor ensures that the will of the citizenry is represented.

I think Andraste is ideal for this. Her role as a paladin of Erastil is to build civilization and insure the good of the common folk. She has the charisma to convince the people that the Ruler’s decisions are for their good. She has the bravery to challenge the ruler when his/her decisions are adverse to the public good.

General
The General commands the kingdom’s armies and is a public hero.

I think Jeremiah is ideal for this. He is tactically minded and looks to the big picture without seeking personal glory. And his “grouchiness” is perfect for the old warhorse position.

Grand Diplomat
The Grand Diplomat oversees international relations.

High Priest
The high priest guides the kingdom’s religious needs and growth.

Magister
The Magister guides a kingdom’s higher learning and magic.

If Zelata grows out of her “learning magic is stooped” phase, she might become a nice Magister.

This may also be a good role for Jeremiah, and may be what he's looking to do.

Marshal
The Marshal helps organize patrols and enforces justice in rural and wilderness regions.

This is the job Segrid thinks he wants right now, but he is worng.

I think Carden is ideal for this. As an inquisitor of Erastil, he will want to insure that the wildlands are safe for the people. He will want to insure that people aren’t using the wild as a refuge to commit evil, such as banditry.

If Zelata’s love of the shiney continues, and she develops some maturity and trustworthoness, she may be destined for this role.

Warden
The Warden leads the kingdom’s defense and city guards.

I think this is where Segrid should wind up. It brings Segrid and Andraste closer to the center of the Kingdom, lets them build a family, etc. Plus it puts him in charge of training the city guard, and his fighting style could become the kingdom’s signature style, like the Swordlords he admired when growing up.

We also have some key npcs that might be good fits for some of these positions, depending on how our relations with them develop.

I dont mind Carden being Warden or Marshal. I probably haven't given the game my 100% due to various reasons. Your suggestions are fine for the roles. I have no idea of whatever game mechanics are related to the roles, so no worries from me. Just curious though; would any of the roles harm a players game time or make non exciting?

XD Issue I has, is O_O I wanna be Queen :( Or, if I am treasurer, I demand 35% of everything! >:O Also, I am thinking of a WoD campaign, take a glance, I know all you guys, and it will be at a time that I am rock solid reliable, will be posting a thread, but, I like yer guyses style of play.

The government had begun experimenting on Viral warfare, trying to create a chemical that allowed them to weaken ther enemies to the point that they had no way to fight back. After WWIII broke out, they used it, it went off succesfully, after several days, China and the US and British forces within stopped responding. Any parties sent over to it did not come back. Finally, the virus hit america like a Atom Bomb, and they realised what they did. Now, seven years later, population ratio is Zombies 90% Humans 10%. You come in as the last survivors in New York City.
